About my blog

It’s a blog about work. It’s a blog about food. It’s a blog about having to keep the nine-to-five gig in order to support my voracious food habit.

Here you’ll find pages of beautifully simple recipes that support a healthy lifestyle. What you won’t find a lot of is meat. I’ve adopted the term “almost-vegetarian” from one of my favorite blogs and I like to think I’m a member of the almost-vegetarian crew. I rarely buy meat to cook at home. You won’t catch me eating too much of it … and if I am eating meat, let’s hope it’s organic (seen Food, Inc.?).

My views toward meat have nothing to do about how cute baby cows are, it’s more about wanting to keep my heart beating past the age of 55 without needing a triple bypass. You’ll hear me say it a lot – our country is fat and we eat a lot of crap. Yes, a lot of that crap is absolutely delicious (ever visited thisiswhyyourefat.com?). Believe me, I’ll never be a stranger to a deep-fried chicken wing or jelly-filled doughnut. You’ll just never catch me eating them on a daily basis (ok, maybe on vacation).

The original goal of this blog was to document my trials and tribulations while working from home in Alaska without getting fat or going crazy. So you may come across a few posts about working from home and staying healthy. Now that I’m back in the office, you’ll probably find future posts on how to stay healthy when you’re spending eight hours a day dodging junk-filled vending machines and candy jars.

I hope you like the topics I cover, leave some comments if you do – and leave some comments if you don’t. Keep the conversation going and let me know what you think. Thanks for stopping by!
